Why do mosquitoes only bite you? A new study revealed the reason
Scientists have discovered the reason that possibly makes mosquitoes suck your blood.
Keep in mind that mosquitoes are considered to be the world's deadliest creatures as they kill millions of people every year due to the diseases they spread.
Well, there can be many reasons why mosquitoes attack you, but skin temperature plays a role in attracting these insects towards us.
This was revealed in a study conducted in America.
A study by the University of California revealed an amazing ability of mosquitoes and that is infrared detection.
Human skin temperature is the source of infrared radiation emission.
These temperature, exhaled carbon dioxide and body odor all play a role in making you a desirable mosquito diet.
"We discovered that mosquitoes are very good at finding human blood," the researchers said.
He further said that factors like carbon dioxide emitted from our breath, body odor, sight of insects, heat emitted from the skin and body moisture attract mosquitoes.
However, they said that mosquitoes have poor eyesight, while strong winds or fast movement of humans play a role in keeping mosquitoes away from us, so we wanted to know how they finally reach their prey.
According to the researchers, mosquitoes detect the heat emitted by the skin from a distance of 10 cm and then use their homing sense to settle on our skin.
He said that wearing open clothes helps to keep mosquitoes away because not only do mosquitoes not reach the skin, but the infrared radiation emitted by our skin spreads and mosquitoes cannot identify it.
